Tom Allum:
My work as a sound artist orientates me towards finding new and original sounds. I take recordings, clock them and hunt for the next one. I gather what I deem to be interesting, avoiding easy to find sounds like traffic, birds and door slam SFX.
This collage comes from recordings I made on a sound walk with Tony and Mayma. We spent about 3 hours listening to a fairly plain bronze statue, a metal fence and a colorbond wall. Using a contact microphone, Tony began to touch and tap these resonating objects. He said he was searching for spatial information - form, space and structure. Mayma shared ideas of being seen. We giggled as bystanders watched us gently caress the bronze man.

I don’t know much about the story of this album but the tone reminds me of bright light through tall gum trees next to the water. The album is a beautiful trip. Tom Allum
